1) In your first sentence, sum up the view that you are asked to oppose or support
2) When you go on: Introduce your own view: “However / But / I think / In my view…”
3) Give emphasis = §§ 300, 301 in Cornelsen Grammar
4) Appeal to values (Wertvorstellungen): “As a policeman he should protect the law”
5) Include the impersonal third-person point of view: “It must be admitted that …”
6) Use these typical clauses:
“Since … (Da) / As …(Da) / because …” to introduce reasons (“As Emily has lived isolated she …”)
“This is why …(Deshalb) / The reasons for this is …”
”Although …/ Though …(Obwohl)” to include objections (Einwände) to your view
“If …”
7) Use intensifying adverbs = § 203b und § 204: “Faulkner is seriously wrong / badly mistaken in saying …”
8 ) At the end: “So / Therefore / What I’m saying is…”
